The ECC Team has been busy building systems (i.e. a foundation, Trello, etc.) to keep the project moving in the right direction and remaining focused on the long-term vision. We’ve all had moments where you know you’ve been working hard, but for some reason feel like you’re getting nowhere. It’s usually in these moments when you’re closer to your goals than you actually realize. The key?
Keep pushing.
Dev Update
The developers are still working through the ANS integration into Sapphire. Most of the dev branch testers have been able to create an ANS name within Sapphire without a problem, however, there is currently an issue where the daemon randomly disconnects when registering a name for certain testers. Dylan, @dolaned, himself says,
“We are testing a new daemon to work with ANS bugfixes, and I’m just plugging away at trello.”
This needs to be repaired before launch and is being treated as priority #1 at the moment.
We are all excited to start marketing actual products, but we want to take all necessary precautions to ensure the user experience is the best it can be. In the meantime, the ANS marketing release is being planned in a well thought out manner.
This is how we are planning for it to go down:
For beta testing, the compiled branch of Sapphire for Windows and Mac will be released first to the Discord community once it is ready. This will allow community members to go through it and provide comments on their experience in the new version of Sapphire, before launching to the public outside of the community.
Now let’s talk about what to expect when we go public.
Marketing Update
When ready, the first release will be an article for the general cryptocurrency space that will be shared in various social media channels, both by ECC and by any marketing volunteers. To increase community engagement in the process, two very different press release articles will be presented to the community before the release and a vote will occur on which one to release to the public.
These articles will be brief, designed to be read in between 30 seconds to one minute, with maximum impact. The release document will also introduce the new ANS marketing video, done in a brief, in-your-face style, and contain a hyperlink to another article as well.
The second companion article will be much longer and explain ANS in much more detail. It will include an explanation of the fees, how it handles usernames, screenshots of ANS within Sapphire, etc. By separating the two articles the details can be looked at by those who really want to see it, and a short, impactful first article will be most likely to be read by many more people to get the general feel for what ECC is all about.
For other sapphire updates, @dolaned has also been working on many of the smaller upgrades to Sapphire, you can have a look at the progress of the Trello board here.
