from the ECC Team

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a team persevere like this one before. We have a vision, and we are dedicated to achieving it. After the past couple of weeks, it would’ve been easy to fall apart. It would’ve been easy to cast blame, quit, and move on.

But that didn’t happen. As a matter of fact, quite the opposite. We evaluated what happened, pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps, came together, and worked harder. Because that’s just what you’re supposed to do. So let’s do it. Let’s move forward.

ANS

Our first service, titled Address Name Service, is being activated on the network on 2018–05–05 @ 0:00 UTC. This means that at that date and time, you can register an ANS name and trade with others using it.

Initially, you will only be able to do this through the Lynx console or OS command line tools. We’re not releasing the ability to use ANS through the Sapphire UI until we’ve been able to fully test it once it activates on the main network.

Sapphire is ready to accommodate ANS, but we want to make sure it’s working properly first before officially releasing it. If you’ve signed up to be a beta tester, then you’ll get the first look.

We’ll be releasing version 1.0.2 beta of Sapphire to the beta testers in the coming days, which addresses a lot of bugs and issues some are seeing. Once it passes beta testing, it will be available for public release on the website. Version 0.2.5.10 of the daemon will be dropping soon as well, which will fix stuck syncing and re-enable staking.

If you want to keep a close eye on Sapphire’s development progress, you can now watch our public Trello board to see what’s being worked on. If you sign up with a free Trello account, then you can also vote on your favorite new features. To report bugs or request new features, please do so through the Issues section of Sapphire’s Github repository.

We’re reorganizing how we’re doing the stand-up from now on. Because we are a team, we will report as one.

Development: You guessed it, we’ve all been working very hard on patching things up with Sapphire and the daemon. We’ve fixed the issue with stuck syncing, staking, some UI issues with Sapphire, and we’ve implemented some backend improvements that will help us build more stable releases going forward. The team has been working tirelessly for pretty much the past month, so we’re hoping to wrap things up soon.

Marketing: The new exchange Mercatox has been slow to respond, but we’ll touch base soon and get our listing there. They’ve also been working on many other exchanges and securing some important partnerships with other blockchain folks. The next video is in the works too (by the same guys who made the first one), so look for that in the coming months.

Cheers,
Sean (@smaho)
