Greetings fellow ECC community members. First of all, we hope everyone has had a safe and happy holiday season, and you were able to spend time with family and friends. 2020 has been a year many of us would rather forget, but hopefully life will get back to relative normalcy a few months into 2021. It’s been a little while since our last update, and there is a lot of news to share. Let’s dive in!

Hello again ECC’ers!

First of all, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year! We hope you’ve been able to spend some quality time with your families over the holidays and we wish you all the best for 2020. Let’s get right into it!

Development Update:

Here are a few highlights of the work done on the development side for the back half of 2019:

Hello ECC community — it’s been awhile.

We have a few changes to discuss today as far as how ECC is going to realize its vision of creating decentralized common network services on the blockchain. That basic vision is still intact as far as instituting messaging and file services are concerned, but the change is in how we plan on getting there.

Through research & development in getting the multi-chain going, some faults became very apparent, mainly around scalability.

Due to the nature of cryptocurrency’s current bear market and the price of many coins/tokens being 80% or more down since January 2018’s highs it seems like most people are overly focused on price. Some even believe that a low price point alone signifies the “death” of any particular cryptocurrency. Fortunately this couldn’t be further from the truth!

The true life and death of a cryptocurrency, while influenced minimally by price, is more vastly contributed to development. Want to really know if a…

Dev Update

The current release, as I’m sure many of you have already seen, is version The exchanges have, but it’s not yet available to everyone else. Most people are currently running version 2.5.11.

All further updates (including prior to the upgrade to are optional. will be the next mandatory upgrade. The next few updates are focused around adding additional experimental features and some performance optimizations. Upgrading from to should result in:

If you had asked me where crypto prices would be today all the way back on January 1st, 2018, I’d have said Bitcoin will likely be north of $50k and ECC would surely be at least 1 cent by now. Hard to not be a little embarrassed.

And this would have been my conservative guess.

In my euphoric optimism, I felt it plausible that Bitcoin could be nearly $100k and ECC, crypto’s hidden gem, may be north of 10 cents.

That’s how much I believed! And I dare…

’Twas the week before Christmas, when all through Discord

The mood was somber and quiet, and people seemed bored.

The price has been falling, and wallets were bare,

But hopes that Sapphire with ANS soon would be there.

The holders were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of l̶a̶m̶b̶o̶s̶ scooters danced in their heads;

The bear was upon us, and had eaten our stack.

Bitcoin had settled for a long winter’s nap.

When out on GitHub there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to…

The climb to success is often a hard one and even a lonely one, but one thing is for sure — it cannot be done by doing nothing. No matter how low the price of Bitcoin drops, how low the market cap of cryptocurrency as whole goes or how negative the market sentiment revolving around it all gets, the ECC Team is dedicated to making this climb. …

After several months of dealing with lawyers, contracts, and miscellaneous paperwork, we are now pleased to announce that The ECC Foundation has been officially incorporated in the Netherlands and is registered through the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Amsterdam!

This is a great accomplishment that needs to be celebrated — but it means that work has only just begun.

Why does ECC need a foundation?

For ECC to succeed, it will need to grow its reach in order to represent a much larger and more diverse community…

I’m sure that most can agree that the cryptocurrency market throughout the majority of this year hasn’t been the most THRILLING (in terms of price). Many projects that were soaring at all-time-highs back in December of 2017 and January of 2018 have retraced more than 60% from those prices including Bitcoin.

While this may not appear to be the most “exciting” time to be in the crypto market, it is definitely the truest. Teams have the opportunity to backlight their projects from a development standpoint in a way that seems to be somewhat overlooked during a…
